Affordable education - Now a reality

In Urdu language, Jamia means ‘University’ and Millia means ‘National’. With this vision of setting up an indigenous national university, Jamia was born in 1920. The foundation stone was laid by Maulana MehmudHasan in October, 1920 at Aligarh. It aroused out of the combined efforts from the two strands of freedom movement in that time, which later took the shape of Khilafat Movement and Non- Cooperation Movement. In the pre-independence era, it was set up as a small institution which was on the verge of collapse after these two movements died out. But on the contrary, it continued and it reached its milestone when it was formally established at Okhla, New Delhi. Its story of growth truly signifies the sacrifices, conviction and dedication that went into its making.
